BURN
SEPTEMBER 26TH 2020 - OCEAN BEACH, SAN FRANCISCO

Specifics of the event_

A

ACTION

This special outdoors happening starts with a beach clean-up. The collective effort culminates into a community meal - we know eating is a political act, and sharing one is a powerful means to social justice. Chef and food activist Maximus Thaler, will inspire our hungry beach cleaners with locally sourced product during a sustainable picnic.

R

RITUAL

As the sun sets, we conclude with a moving dance performance choreographed by San Francisco based artist, dancer, and choreographer Skyla Schreter featuring San Francisco Ballet dancers.

The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago, when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline.

Since then volunteers from states and territories throughout the U.S. and more than 100 countries come together each year and participate in a Cleanup event near them.

Next September LOUD SPRING will partner with SF Environment for the International Coastal Cleanup day.

As a vibrant resonance of the event LOUD SPRING will engage all the volunteers to come together and to turn the picked-up waste into a resourceful material by creating a collaborative sculptural piece.

To vividly depict the critical effect of human-caused pollution and its direct consequences, the day will close on the sunset BURN dance performance choreographed by San Francisco based artist, dancer, and choreographer Skyla Schreter featuring San Francisco Ballet dancers.
